My daughter, Cate, describes me as, “pretty, nice and makes good spaghetti. She sings in the car with me to Miley Cyrus and is always chasing me around with her camera.”

There are few things I love more than being a mom. Being a photographer ranks right up there.

Through lifestyle photography, I’ve found a way to have the best of both worlds.

Upon graduating from the top-ranked photojournalism program at Western Kentucky University, I started my career as a newspaper photographer. For 11 years, I documented historical events like Super Bowls, hurricanes and presidential elections. I built an impressive portfolio.

These days, I find pleasure in being a part of – and carefully documenting — life’s celebrations. The weddings. The children. The families. My photojournalism training has given me the ability to capture big moments and even the small, beautiful ones, too. My clients tell me my training as a mom gives me the ability to capture their children in their own beauty, from tantrums to giggles, all while being patient.

My husband and I have been blessed with two beautiful children, Cate and Liam. They are what make life worth living.
